BOOKINGS ANNOUNCEMENT
Ref: Occasional Travellers and Other Lions Clubs Branches Members
In view of recent events where bookings have been made and then subsequently not honoured we will now be introducing a new procedure as regards bookings from "One Match Members" and other Lions Clubs Branches members. These bookings in future will be required to provide a £5 deposit before a booking is entered on the mini bus list. This will obviously NOT affect Full Somerset Members but they should bear in mind should they say "put so and so down for a certain match" they will be required to pay the deposit. It's a shame that we have had to do this but we are not prepared to lose potential bookings because it appears that the bus does not have adequate space, when in fact, we do eventually.

Eurotunnel Vouchers Update

We buy the majority of fuel from our travels from Tesco so we can take advantage of the
Clubcard scheme.
The vouchers acquired will go to help keep the potential cost of our "Debut" European Trip cheaper than it could possibly be.

"Somerset Lions on an European Tour"
2009-10
Well, we have qualified for the Europa League (shame it wasn't the Champions League). So the dream
we had way back in December when we started our own transport of following the Villa to an European game, will hopefully be fufilled. It has always been generally
agreed amongst us all that we would do a "mini-bus" trip to a game if it was in Northern France , Belgium or Eastern Holland. This would be on a
comparative mileage for us in Somerset of a Middlesborough (322 miles) trip,Bruges in Belgium is 327. Our saving of Eurotunnel vouchers would keep the cost down even more so the only extras
to our normal expenses of Hire and Fuel would be the extra insurances required by the
Mini Bus Hire Company and the Group Insurance for the Travel,Health Care and Legal requirements.
Please could you take the time to read the
Information Page
and could you also fill in the printable
Registration Form and post to me before the start of next season if you would like to travel with us.
More information will follow when the draw is made etc
Somerset Lions Transport
Here at the Somerset Lions our transport policy is to provide the opportunity for people to travel to EVERY home game and some away games.
Most games are serviced by a 17 seater mini bus.
We are fully registered with VOSA to cover the hire and reward implications of charging a “fare” for the mini-bus as a non profit
making organisation.
You must be a member of the Lions Club to travel with us (see membership page for details etc).
Pick up time and pick up places vary depending on demand but the basic “run” is Shepton Mallet via the A303 to the M5 and picking up there at various points from Junction 26(Wellington) to Avonmouth/Gordano Services.
Payment for seats is due on the day of the match and normally collected at the coffee stop at Michaelwood Sevices. The fare fluctuates depending on demand but is normally £15 for all home games for an Adult.
Away games are priced on an individual basis as fuel costs and vehicle size may vary but as an example Blackburn was £20pp
Youth/Child places are available on all journeys at half price of the adult fare providing at least 11 adults are travelling and there is availability.
Please Note As part of our learning curve with running transport etc it has come to light that in order to meet the requirements of current legislation and the conditions of our VOSA Permit
we have to adhere to certain things. One of the main requirements is the tie up between alcohol and travelling TO sporting events.
NO ALCOHOL is allowed on the bus and if we stop on the way where alcohol is served it must also be a “meal” stop as well.

Club Policy regarding Somerset Lions Away Match Tickets and Travel Season 2009-2010
Where there is demand and availability transport however possible will be run. Bear in mind that Monday Night and other midweek games will rarely be run due to people having to have time off work etc. Notification will be given well in advance when there is an exception to this policy.
Match Tickets for these games will be purchased by the Club under our Official Supporters Club banner and all your personal reference numbers will be logged by us and AVFC so your own booking history is maintained and enhanced as the season progresses.
Definite and Intend to Travel bookings will be taken as and when they appear on the website.
Payment for match tickets must be made by yourselves no later than 14 days before the fixture.
This will enable us to return any unsold tickets due to drop outs etc. After this deadline you will liable for payment whether you use the ticket or not.Should you decide to travel with us after this cut off time then you will responsible for getting your own Match Ticket if the Clubs unsold ones have been returned. Travel payments will be taken as usual on the day of match itself.
